What good is a trust without trust?

The problem mom initially brought up was whether the stepdad would help pay for her daughter's college. Mom thought he should; he thought the daughter’s education trust was enough. When I dug a little deeper, I learned there were trust issues in the marriage. Ironically, they had a trust for their child, but they didn’t trust each other. Blended family finances are tricky.
