"Whom we confess" and "the faith we profess" are both translations of the Greek word homologia, which is defined as "an act of proclamation in which the concrete relation of man to Jesus is expressed in binding and valid form." Jesus expressed the importance of such a homologia (Mt.10:32), and Hebrews confirmed it.
