When you think of “false gods,” perhaps you picture golden statues in ancient temples. Those would certainly classify, but idols actually come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In fact, an idol is anything we put on the throne of our hearts other than the one, true King.
You can know something about a person, their biography, greatest achievements, famous sayings...but still be a stranger to them. Real relationships require something more. Presence. Pursuit. A genuine willingness to close the distance.
