We all carry around an internal list of our accomplishments, talents, or trophies. It’s the résumé of our worth. The grace and love of the Lord is not the result of zealous self-improvement, but a humble reliance on the finished work of Christ.
You can know something about a person, their biography, greatest achievements, famous sayings...but still be a stranger to them. Real relationships require something more. Presence. Pursuit. A genuine willingness to close the distance.
