The focus of today's lesson is going to be on God's response to the people's requests where they said, give to us a king. And the motivation for that request was for the children of Israel to be like all the other nations. This was not God's will. God had called Israel and set them apart for His purpose, that they would be a light unto the nations, that they would have an influence on all the people of the earth.
