We saw last week that the elders of Israel made a tragic error. They wanted to assimilate and be like the nations, rather than being the treasured people that God had called Israel to be. Over and over, we see in the scripture that Israel is not supposed to be like the nations, but influence the nation to be that light unto the nations, that they might receive the revelation of God and join with God's people in an eternal covenant.
