The children of Israel suffered greatly at the hands of the Babylonians and those other nations that joined with Babylon to bring destruction to the Jewish people the city of Jerusalem and also the temple. And what we're going to see in this fourth chapter is a description of how this change came about, from the children of Israel knowing prosperity and good times, to them enduring great hardship, suffering destruction and humiliation.
